
There are several statutes or Acts of the legislature that govern the jurisdiction and practices of the courts in Manitoba. Following is a list of these statutes:
Under these statutes, rules of procedure are created as regulations. So under each of the above-noted statutes you will find corresponding rules of procedure. These rules are as follows:
All of the above-noted rules concern civil proceedings. Rules
respecting criminal proceedings do not exist for the Provincial
Court, but do exist for the Court of Appeal and the Court of
Queen's Bench. These rules were created under the Criminal Code
(section 482) and are referenced as the Manitoba
Criminal Appeal Rules SI/92-106 (Canada) and the Manitoba
Court of Queen's Bench Rules (Criminal) SI/92-35 (Canada). These rules are
published in the Canada Gazette.
